Is this the Future of Physical Formats?

http://saul-williams.sonymusic.fr/merchandising/826/saul-williams/playbutton

For those who don't know, Saul Williams' career began in poetry, moved into film and performance (notably, Slam!) and gained an underground following as a rapper (though "melodic spoken word" may be more accurate). Throughout his artistic career, he has continually pushed his creative boundaries. His previous album "The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust" brought him the most forward yet in his career in due part to a large number of high-er profile names attached to the creation and production, as well as the distribution method chosen to release his album-- (granted, this was 2008, and a lot more people started doing this after Radiohead did it with "In Rainbows") the tip jar method-- y'know, pay a price-- or don't for a digital download. While he wasn't the first (nowhere near, even Radiohead is pretty far from that title), it proved more fruitful than releasing under a label-- that cash came right back to him, and his association with larger names ensured his promotion.

Granted, while that wasn’t exactly groundbreaking in the “change the world” sense, his most recent pursuit could be. I have not heard it yet short of the trailer on his home page found here, I’m intrigued by the notion that the future of the physical format could turn into something like the “wearable record”.

Personally, I can’t say I can see it hanging on. Seems more like a rounded-out or completed version of one of these (If you're younger than me and know what that is, I'm sorry).

Regardless, I'd like to see what happens next. It's currently only available in Europe, with no known release date for the States (so sayeth a twitter posting I read one week ago, though... Too lazy to doublecheck at this exact moment... Ah screw it, here's the extra effort) As it stands, still unknown, to be announced SOON. Is this something that will reshape music as we listen to it, or is this more or less just another quick fad thingy? My money's on the latter, but the unique idea is inspiring, nonetheless.
